A more detailed view about EMDR and Deeper Processing techniques:

What is a Somatic EMDR and Deeper Processing techniques? We all have a strong internal drive to completion or to experience life events full circle. Sometimes events in our lives do not permit us to reach resolution. We also have drives for protection and to not feel things that are unpleasant or overwhelming. These internal drives can lead to feeling stuck (often unconsciously) and this can show up in different ways, for example, we can get involved in the same relationships or emotional/behavioural cycle. Sometimes it becomes problematic and we begin to experience difficulties like anxiety, depression, physical symptoms and stress reactions, or emotional intolerance. Our mind is built to try and figure out why and although a thinking process like this can be helpful - it can also be frustrating and created a greater loop.

With this approach to therapy we help to slow things down and connect with that natural drive for completion and move towards resolution - freedom and clarity arises spontaneously from within. Trusting this process is key. My experience is that bringing awareness to the details of our experience facilitates this movement. This includes, bringing awareness and listening to our thoughts, emotions, nervous system, body sensations, imagination, intuition, and all 5 senses.

This awareness becomes even more helpful when used in conjunction with EMDR, and other uses of bilateral stimulation. Applying left-right bilateral stimulation helps the brain to work more efficiently and with greater resiliency. The more primitive parts of the brain appear to become less engaged, and the higher functioning parts become more activated. Evidence also suggests there is an increase in activity between brain hemispheres. This aids in the ability to sustain awareness such that incomplete responses have a chance to fully reprocess.
